Volunteers with School Supplies for Kids filled 1,250 backpacks Sunday for children who will be cared for via a entrance year in Calgary’s domestic assault shelters.
More than 75 volunteers helped make a plan probable during a southeast warehouse, including students from Rundle College Elementary School, Western Canada High School’s Interact Club, and a University of Calgary’s Rotaract Club.
The backpacks filled during a room are distributed to Calgary’s domestic assault shelters, and afterwards given to children who are journey domestic violence.
“They customarily leave all behind, and afterwards they have to start during a new school, and it’s customarily during a year during some time, and we don’t wish them to feel like they’re opposite than everybody else,” pronounced Stephanie Sacks, a Calgary chairperson for School Supplies for Kids. “And they have a collection to learn and be in a school.”
The module has been using for 18 years.
“We wish there wasn’t a need and we could stop,” pronounced Sacks. “Right now there still is a need, and we’ll keep doing this service.”
