Menands-area families get assistance with propagandize supplies

The Back to School Closet is full of wardrobe and propagandize reserve displayed in a boutique environment during Bethany Presbyterian Church. It’s a newest bid by Pay It Forward … Together to assistance people in Watervliet, Menands and surrounding communities get their children prepared for a start of a new propagandize year.

“We didn’t wish it to demeanour like a rummage sale,” pronounced Carol Darmetko, who founded a classification that’s been entertainment volunteers and adding programs during a 10 months of existence.

In a open there was a Prom Closet that helped 34 teenage girls obtain dresses, boots and other equipment for their proms.

“This is a initial time for The Back to School Closet,” pronounced Darmetko of Menands.

Michael Williams and Andrea Snyder of Watervliet were blissful to collect out clothing, home reserve and propagandize materials Saturday morning with their children, Ryan Snyder, 13, Dustyn Snyder, 10, and Abigail Snyder, 7.

“We’re low-income people. We’re looking to get them a propagandize reserve they need,” pronounced Williams, who recently mislaid his job.

The Watervliet City School District suggested they take advantage of a program. Superintendent Lori Caplan is a outspoken believer of Pay It Forward … Together’s efforts to support families in a district.

Alicia Panetta of Watervliet was picking adult equipment for her children Nicole Panetta, 16, and Ricky Panetta, 14.

“This is a good idea,” Panetta said.

Carleen Legalt of Watervliet is one of a volunteers aiding in a back-to-school efforts. She pronounced it was about assisting a village and giving back.

“It’s a good approach to assistance a community, seniors and students,” pronounced Valecia Parker of Menands, another volunteer.

Lisa Green of Watervliet and Jean Parker of Menands also were volunteering.

Darmetko pronounced a organisation has performed a nonprofit taxation standing and will find grants to enhance a programs. She pronounced it’s operative with students during a Menands School on ancillary programs.

The Back to School Closet is open during a church, 21 North Ave., Menands, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays by Sept. 30 and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdays by Sept. 26.
