MAGNOLIA, Miss. (AP) – Magnolia Mayor Anthony Witherspoon and his wife, state Sen. Tammy Witherspoon, are reaching out to businesses in a village to assistance a South Pike School District.
The Witherspoons recently presented a South Pike School Board with 60 present bags full of classroom reserve for each clergyman in a district. The bags were filled with reserve that will assistance cut costs for teachers. Some of a reserve enclosed were paper towels, palm sanitizers, notebooks, pens and erasers.
The mayor tells The Enterprise-Journal (http://bit.ly/2efWKMO) that he’s now reaching out to area businesses for donations.
The Witherspoons’ son, Amani, attends Eva Gordon Elementary School. They pronounced they wanted to give behind after a emanate of fundraising was brought adult during a propagandize house assembly in September.
Trustee Eva Andrews asked since a house authorized so many fundraisers and wondered if schools had adequate income in their activity supports to assistance cover costs.
Witherspoon pronounced businesses stepping in to assistance schools would be profitable amid a underfunding of open schools statewide.
